Ulrichsen Rosen & Freed LLC was formed in 2006, when Barbara Ulrichsen, Wendy Rosen and Derek Freed left their positions as family law attorneys and partners at Fox Rothschild LLP to establish their own practice. The result was a firm devoted solely and fully to the practice of family law in New Jersey.

Ms. Ulrichsen, a practicing family law attorney since 1974, has handled many high-profile family law matters and has experience negotiating and drafting complex settlements. Barbara is certified by the New Jersey Supreme Court as a Matrimonial Attorney. She serves on the New Jersey Supreme Court Family Practice Committee and was formerly a member of the New Jersey State Bar Family Law Executive Committee.
She was selected for inclusion in the 2011 edition law of “The Best Lawyers in America” in the speciality of family law and named a New Jersey “Super Lawyer” by the New Jersey Super Lawyers Magazine every year between 2005 and 2023.
Ms. Rosen handles all aspects of family law matters, including appellate matters relating to custody, relocation, alimony and retirement issues. She was selected for inclusion in the New Jersey Super Lawyers list between 2010 and 2012. She is qualified as a mediator under New Jersey Court Rule 1:40 and has also been trained and certified as a Collaborative Family Law attorney.
Mr. Freed has successfully argued matters before New Jersey trial and appellate courts for family law matters. In 2015, he was recognized for his efforts on behalf of the New Jersey State Bar Association having co-authored the Amicus Curiae brief submitted to the New Jersey Supreme Court in the case of Gnall v. Gnall, as well as in 2017 having co-authored the Amicus Curiae brief submitted to the New Jersey Supreme Court in the case of Bisbing v. Bisbing. He served as Treasurer of the Family Law Section of the New Jersey State Bar Association. He is an Associate Managing Editor of the New Jersey Family Lawyer, a New Jersey State Bar Association publication and is a member of the Matrimonial Lawyers Alliance.
He is qualified as a mediator under New Jersey Court Rule 1:40, is certified as an arbitrator by the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers and is trained and certified as a Collaborative Family Law attorney.
Mr. Freed was selected for inclusion in the New Jersey Super Lawyers edition every year between 2014 and 2022 and has been listed in “Woodward/White’s Best Lawyers in America” every year between 2013 and 2019.
